Hold Your Own Pylon Races!

Pylon racing in the RC world typically involves multiple planes flying on a triagular course, only turning left. These planes race around the track, trying to overtake their competitors. The following activity is often used as a demonstration or small group activity.

Though the Jetstream is a free-flight model made of thin balsa wood, it is powered by a rubber motor and can be modified for increased performance. Bulk Jetsream orders (18 or more) can be made at AC Supply Co.. Smaller orders can be made at modelaircraft.org.

This TAG event is a wonderful classroom activity, providing an introduction to aeromodeling and the principles of flight. It takes little preparation and uses everyday materials.

Download the activity sheet and watch the video below for tips on holding your own race!
